Location: General Pittsburgh Area
Job Type: Part-Time; ideally 1-3 days/week; hours vary depending on client's needs; 4-hour booking minimum
Salary: $30-65/hr paid via payroll service
Job Description: We are looking for skilled and passionate personal chefs to prepare nutritious and delicious meals tailored to the dietary preferences and requirements of our clients. As a personal chef, you will be responsible for planning menus, shopping for ingredients, preparing meals, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of various cuisines, nutrition, and dietary restrictions. They will ideally be able to meal prep for a family's week within 1-2 shifts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Menu Planning: Collaborate with clients to create personalized meal plans that align with their tastes, dietary needs, and preferences.
- Meal Preparation: Prepare and cook meals in the client’s home, ensuring a high standard of quality and presentation.
- Grocery Shopping: Source and purchase fresh, high-quality ingredients, ensuring they meet the client’s dietary standards.
- Kitchen Management: Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment. Handle all aspects of food safety and hygiene.
- Special Events: Occasionally cater for special family events, dinners, or gatherings as requested.
- Dietary Compliance: Accommodate special dietary restrictions and preferences, including but not limited to vegan, gluten-free, low-sodium, and allergy-specific diets.
- Communication: Maintain clear and open communication with clients to adjust menus and meals as needed based on their feedback and evolving needs.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a personal chef or in a similar culinary role.
- Formal culinary training or equivalent experience.
- Strong knowledge of various cuisines, dietary restrictions, and nutrition.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to work independently.
- High attention to detail, creativity, and passion for cooking.
- Professionalism, discretion, and the ability to maintain client confidentiality.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for grocery shopping and travel to clients' homes.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with families or in private households.
- Certification in food safety and handling.
- Ability to prepare meals for children and familiarity with child nutrition.
